P is for Prisoner in the Middle

Alas, Petey Wheatstraw, the Devil's Son-in-Law turned out to be a comedy, not just a movie about comedians. So the official "P" movie is second-place's Prisoner in the Middle, starring David Janssen.

Imagine a light-hearted, zany action thriller set in the middle of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict of the late-1970s. That's not this film. This film is the story of CIA operative Col. Tony Stevens (David Janssen), who parachutes into the desert near the Lebanon/Israel border to deactivate a lost nuclear warhead. He is captured by PLO-friendly terrorists (lead by a man named Malouf, who is so secure in his masculinity that he wears a pink head wrap), and then captured by the Israeli army. Everyone wants the warhead, and nobody will let Col. Stevens deactivate it. Eventually the terrorists and the Israeli soldiers kill each other. Our hero (?) is the only survivor. At this point, he finally (finally!) disarms the damn thing.
