Animated Ninja Technique

in honor of booniverse

YFNPN's birthday is today, and so there was watchin' of the Kolobos.

This was billed as a psychological thriller. And for the most part, it succeeded. It started out with a mysterious woman running in front of a car. We got snippets of reality from her perspective. Then we suddenly were watching five people apply (via videotape) for the opportunity to have an all-expenses paid vacation in a large house. A snob, a crass comedian, a cheery airhead, an aspiring actress, and a suicidal artist-girl on heavy anxiety meds.

I'm sure you can figure out what happens next. But where they wanted creepy, they managed to pull it off. The dude shaving bits of his face off with a straight razor while whispering "Kolobos" -- freaky! This movie only barely entered Smithee territory, discounting the end where it sounded like our sole survivor's straight razor was possessed by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Overall, I give it a full 6.5 or 7 out of 10 on a straight-up scale, and 9 out of 10 based on what it tried to do. It came this close.

Happy Birthday!!

Sorry you didn't get any clippage from the movie, though.
