Hello Hello! We're back on-line and in Columbus, Huzzah! We're still missing the full Smithee complement but by showtime -

All of us should be in town. Meanwhile, if you want to hang and be creative, we're doing the Buttons in the Breezeway at 1pm until we're out of supplies or happy hour arrives (~5). Come say hello and make you a button. Now, We're off to get our stinkin' badges.

We are now just under 60 hours to show time and I'll be signing off the blog shortly to head to Columbus, leaving you all in the capable hands of our laptop-equipped promotional staff. Before I head out, though, I'll leave you all with the odd statistical quirk of this year's show: For the first time in 21 Smithee Awards ceremonies (including MegaMetas), there is no movie with four nominations. There are three with six, two with five, and seven with three, but no fours.

OK, so far that's sticking so let's hope we're not somewhere else by this afternoon. Hey, one whole weekend and we're still scheduled in the same room, things are looking up!

Speaking of up, the Buttons in the Breezeway box is all prepped and packed. Your Smithee Ninja was a very busy button pressing fool this weekend and I have 270 giveaway buttons for the grabbing if you are so inclined to get yourself a Smithee button. I'm usually found wandering the dealer's room at select times or if you catch any of the other Smith-ka-teers they usually have a supply of buttons to hand out. Or! You could come to the Buttons in the Breezeway event (Thursday, 1-5ish, somewhere in the breezeway. Hence the name) and color your own Smithee button and have it pressed while you ponder. How's that for unique?

Lastly, check out the twitter feed for up-to-dateness and other bits of info. We're planning on doing some tweeting this convention…because we can!

Hi again, this is your Promotions Ninja with the newest news about the change in room location. It looks like we've just been bounced back to Ballroom 3 as of this morning. We're still, also as of this morning, on at 7pm (which is different than the Origins Official posted 8pm - they are working on changing that) except we've yo-yoed back to the original room location. So now the show spam reads:

The Smith-ka-teers have a running joke about the Origins Smithee Show and it goes something like "When everything goes according to plan, that's a sure sign that the Apocalypse is on the way." I just wanted to let you all know that we're safe from the end of the world for another year because I *just* got word that our room got changed from Ballroom 3 to The Regency Ballroom is Ballroom 3. This is not the room change you are looking for. You can go about your business.. So, the current show spam should read:

it was exactly 2 weeks until the Origins Smithee show, the last show of 2009. Here's a gentle reminder that the show is on FRIDAY this year and that we'll be in the super awesome big bad room of [cue reverb]infinite seating (Ballroom 3).

It's nearly time now! If you're in Columbus for Origins, you have to stop reading this soon, because it's only 2.5 hours 'til showtime! We are in Rooms D230 & 232, next to the Looney Labs Great Experiment. It's a little smaller than last year, so expect to be packed in a little tighter. The Room is smaller, that is. The Show is, as always, outstanding.

Technically yesterday was the one week Origins warning but the Smithees were never big on technicalities. This particular One Week Warning is for the new Smithee Event at Origins:

Color your own Smithee button! Bring your imagination and your coloring hand and we'll press you up your very own personalized Smithee button as you watch!



It's free, or it was originally until I noticed that for some reason it now costs $2 to come to our breezeway table and be your own Artiste. No worries, you can still mosey on over and make your own Smithee button without a ticket but if you happened to have signed up for the event, we've got that covered too. There's a little something extra planned for those of you holding tickets.

Anyway, come join us on Thursday and have a little Pre-show fun. Buttons are on us.

Here's a Smithee vet bringing a Smithee virgin to her first show. Awwwwww, another soul corrupted. That's so sweet. And you know...if we get the same room next year all of you vets can bring your Smithee deprived friends and we'll still have chairs left over. The Hyatt ballroom WROCKS!

Hello Smitheeites! Well, the Smithee 16 voting year is over and what a ride! We had a couple swank new things to unveil this time around starting with the new and improved ballot packs. Truly, it's not that we're looking forward into the future but rather the laziness of not having to pack up 400+ ballot packs didn't outweigh the awkwardness of juggling 4 different things to hand audience members. That's one of the other cool new swank things - badge ribbons! OooooOOOoooo! And also our business cards, which are actually a quick and dirty MS Publisher file printed on fancy colored paper and then lovingly hand cut into little slips. I guess business lames is a better description but! It has all our info and looks...all info-y so yay? Yay! Thirdly, we got a new room this year. A huge new room. HYOOJ! 1200 seats of Hyooj so all you Smithee Origins folks can bring your friends AND your enemies tonight.

Wheeee! What fun! As most of you know, or may have deduced, Origins is over and thus endeth the 15th year of Smitheelicious Shlock.
