So! Seeing as it's an odd-numbered month, this Saturday (September 5th) seems like a good time to invite folks to meet the Ann Arbor Area Smithkateers. We'll be hanging at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti from 5pm until whenever! Hope to see you there & thenish!

Just as a note of caution, this is the weekend of the first Michigan home game of a home game intensive season, so give yourself some extra driving time if you're planning on dropping by.

September is coming up and with it should be Dinner and a Smithee night but...see...it's Ann Arbor (mostly) during football season and I don't know about you but I sure as heck don't want to be out and about during football Saturdays. Mind you, The Guru and I can walk to the Corner Brewery so we aren't much affected by crazy football traffic. However, most people can't get across town for want of FOOTBALL so we decided to have Dinner and a Smithee on an off Saturday.

Guess which Saturday in September isn't a home game.

Yeah. Thanks football schedule. Also thanks that of the 12 games, 8 of them are home games. HATE! So it looks like the September Dinner and a Smithee will be in very late September...like possibly the beginning of October. Stay tuned for more information while we sort out what weekend in Septober we'll be having Dinner and a Smithee.

Locals! Tomorrow, July 32nd is the first day of the new! and improved! Smithee Nite Out (renamed Dinner and a Smithee). We'll still be at The Corner Brewery eating eats and drinking drinks but we're going to mosey on over a tad earlier. So!

This Saturday, July 32nd, we'll be launching the new! and improved! Smithee Nite Out renamed "Dinner and a Smithee". It's still basically at the same bat place (Corner Brewery ) but a new bat time: 5pm. Come join us for food and games and whatnot.

This is a sort of informal Smithee Nite out month because we're going to be changing up the Smithee Nite concept just a tad. Saturday, July 4th is your last day to hang with the Smithee Crowd as part of "Smithee Nite Out" (the usual 8pm at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti). Come Saturday, July 32nd (what?) we'll be reorganizing Smithee Nite Out into Dinner and a Smithees. The only real difference being we'll be starting a whole lot earlier so you out of towners can conceivably make an evening of it and so the Earl, who is working nights now, can come for a bit as well. Stay tuned for more info on the revamp of Smithee Nite but for now, if you want to come hang and play some games, The Guru and your promotions Ninja will definitely be at the Brewery on Independence Day. Possibly with Vapor's Gambit in tow because we scored a (free!) second copy and have an awesome amount of track now.

SCREAMING! HOVERBOARD! RACING!

Just a little local remindery - we're going to be gathering this Saturday at the Corner Brewery in Ypsi for the May edition of Smithee Nite out. The Guru went poking through the directions for Vapor's Gambit; a "screaming hoverboard racing" game for 2-6 players. This is the odd little game we picked up for pretty cheap at the Penguicon Charity Auction and after learning the gameplay, I think it might come with us to the Corner. Any game with a "Woah!" chit is good by me and it seems pretty straight forward - sort of like the bastard child of Mille Bornes, Cthulhu 500 and some random tile playing race game.

For those of you keeping track of odd months you have no doubt come to the conclusion that May falls within this subset of months quite nicely. We too have noticed this and are acting accordingly. The next Smithee Nite Out will be scheduled on May 30th, at the Corner Brewery, starting 8pm. In other words: Same bat time, same bat place, different bat day than last time. Although...if we could have it on the exact same day as we did two months ago we'd for sure win us some sort of temporal physics grant wouldn't you think?

Ann Arborites and surrounding peeps are invited to hang Smithee style tomorrow, March 7th; 8pm to whenever at The Corner Brewery. Be there or...ummm...be somewhere else.

This Saturday, folks (and I'm lookin' in particular at YOU dspitzle) is the March edition of Smithee Night Out: Ann Arbor. We will be congregating at The Corner Brewery sometime around 8pm with games in tow. Yes pattimst3k, I will try my hardest to remember "Apples to Apples" as well as another Looney Labs or Cheapass game. Maybe I'll bring some Buttonmen!

Smithee Nite Out, that's what! Local Ann Arborites and you Ohians who live somewhat close to the border and even our neighbors to the south (if we lived in Detroit that is) are invited to the Corner Brewery for fun and stuff Smithee.

We'll be moseying over on MARCH 7TH around 8pm with the usual bag load of games. Look for the obnoxious yellow Smithee bag starting around 8pm until pretty much closing time.

is the official January Smithee Nite Out at the Corner Brewery. lunargeography and I are hoping to premier a new-to-the-area game which is part Nanofictionary, part Smithees and all fun. This is assuming that we can make the cards all in one night. I have oodles of Sharpies, it should be a breeze right? RIGHT!

Anyhow, we'll be hanging out at 8pm-ish give or take so come by and say "hey". Bring a game if you want or just chill with us crazy folks. And remember "Red Snapper. Very tasty."

I know it seems like we just were at the Corner Brewery but that was how 2008 liked to roll. It also could be that there really aren't that many days between November 36th and January but whatever the reason, tis the season for gathering, gaming and general Smithee fun. This month we've decided that January 24th looks about right for some Smithee Nite Out action so I hope your calendars are relatively clear for some portion of the evening. Happy Hour starts at 8pm, we'll bring some assorted games to play.

Wow! I just got back from shopping and it's getting fun out there. WHEEEE! That said, The Guru and I will still head down to the Corner Brewery tonight for Smithee Nite Out but we can walk there and back with little to no fear of vehicular slidey fun. If you want to take a pass on tonight due to slickery roads, that's more than fine with us. In fact, that's preferable so we can get together with you uninjured come January when we do this thing again. Minus the road hazardous.

If not then please drive extra super careful because I can't see it getting any better out.

We will be at a table somewhere in the Corner Brewery with games in hand and possibly even surreptitious treats to put in your shoes. Happy Hour starts at 8.

Hey, it's September. It's also an odd month which means SMITHEES NITE OUT! Come join the Smithee Crew at the Corner Brewery for some fun, games, drinks and possibly pizza. It looks like September 20th ought to be enough time for the crazy start of school(s) to calm down so let's make that the official day. 8pm is happy hour so that'll be the time of gathering.

This Saturday is the chosen odd month Smithee Nite Out day and per usual if you are in or around the Ann Arbor area feel free to drop by the Corner Brewery around 8pm for some excellent beer and fun games. I'm thinking of dragging along 1KBWC: The Smithee Deck and I might also find room for Zombie Flux. If you have a favorite game bring that along too, the Brewery has a wikid game condusive atmosphere. Plus beer.
